ABOUT US
Celebrating 50 Years of Service

The Columbia (MD) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered in 1971, just four years after the new town of Columbia was established in Howard County, Maryland. Delta was the first African-American sorority or fraternity to start a chapter in Howard County and is one of the largest Pan Hellenic chapters in Howard County.

OUR PROGRAMS
Helping the Community in Every Way

Our programs are focused on the sorority’s five point programmatic thrusts. They are Educational Development, Economic Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Political Awareness and Involvement and Physical and Mental Health.

Educational Development
An educational program for Howard County elementary school students in the kindergarten through fifth grades
Economic Development
The mission of the Economic Development Committee is to help bridge the gap between wealth and poverty.
International Awareness
Under the leadership and guidance of Grand Chapter, the committee’s mission is to raise both the level of awareness
Physical & Mental Health
The mission of the Physical and Mental Health Committee is to educate and facilitate lifestyle change for the physical
Political Awareness
Political Awareness & Involvement develop, plan, and execute social action initiatives and programs in the Howard
International Awareness
Under the leadership and guidance of Grand Chapter, the committee’s mission is to raise both the level of awareness
