Debutante Cotillion

Overview of Program

The Columbia (MD) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has a longstanding tradition of presenting young ladies at the Debutante Cotillion Ball for 45 years. This annual event signifies elegance, grace, and the celebration of these young women’s achievements. As we approach the 46th anniversary of this cherished tradition, we look forward to continuing the legacy of recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of the debutantes.

The Debutante Cotillion Ball represents the culmination of various activities that take place in the months leading up to the actual event. Over several months, the young ladies will meet periodically to participate in various workshops and experiences, including college preparation, fine dining and etiquette, dressing for success, appreciating their beauty, community service, and cultural appreciation, among others. The workshops are designed to help the young ladies build and maintain their self-esteem and confidence, make informed, positive choices in their lives, cultivate healthy and positive relationships, as well as bond with the other debutantes.

The Debutante Cotillion experience is not a beauty contest; rather, the focus is on the young ladies’ academic achievements, community service, and future aspirations. Past participants have formed lasting friendships with fellow debutantes and strengthened familial relationships.

The Columbia (MD) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. hopes that this Cotillion season will be an inspiration for your future endeavors.
